Sammie Striker has been running a successful lemonade stand for the last few summers, but the Michigan girl isn’t pocketing her profits...she's turned her lemonade stand into a charitable fund!
It all started 4 years ago, when Sammie was just eight years old. Sammie started a lemonade stand in her family's driveway, which later relocated to the American Legion Post 439 in Saginaw Michigan, near the Strikers home. Business for Sammie's lemonade stand has been booming, and Sammie recently presented a check to the VA hospital for $2,111.53...all of the money came from her lemonade stand earnings!
“It’s a great message to other students and other young people to be as generous and as hard working as she is,” says Jeffrey Wendt, with the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
And Sammie’s already planning for next summer’s sales. Her goal is to raise $5,000 for the VA in 2019.
Go Sammie! What a great example for young people!
