Florida woman thinks she has food poisoning...actually has a baby

A Florida woman mistook her labor pains for an upset stomach from bad Chinese food -- and ended up with an unexpected side order of a baby.

Y'all, I know it's possible to be pregnant and not realize it for a while. I have friends who had no idea there was a baby in there until they were 4 months along. But this woman delivered at 37 weeks! How does that happen?!

29-year-old Crystal Gail Amerson of Pensacola woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pains and had to keep running to the bathroom. She believed she'd eaten some bad General Tso's chicken (Fair enough...who hasn't been there before?). An hour later, the pain got worse, so she woke up and her fiance and called an ambulance. At the hospital, doctors determined that it wasn't the Chinese food causing the pain, it was a baby. Amerson had no idea that she was approximately 37 weeks pregnant. Her healthy baby boy was delivered about an hour later.

Amerson says she never felt any symptoms associated with pregnancy. She noticed she'd put on a little weight, but didn't think much of it. She already has one child and says her first pregnancy was also very easy. Doctors say it is possible to be pregnant without realizing it, but it's still unusual that she wouldn't have felt the baby kicking.

So she'd had a baby before and STILL didn't know she was pregnant?! I would think if you'd been through a pregnancy previously, you'd be clued in pretty quickly. I know I'm saying this as a woman who hasn't had a kid, but I think I know my body well enough to know if I were pregnant.

Anyway, the important thing here is that the baby and the mom are both healthy, so cheers!
