Before starting in radio, I waited tables and bartended for 10 years. I can tell you firsthand, it can be hard work, and sometimes customers can make your job harder than it already is.
But sometimes, customers can be awesome! I've personally been given VERY generous tips, and for someone who is struggling to make ends meet, picking up extra shifts, and working 6 to 7 days a week just to keep the lights on, a little kindness goes a LONG way!
Check this out:
Brianna Siegel, a 21-year-old server at a Bar Louie in Woodbridge, served a couple Tuesday evening, and after they paid their $20 bill, they gave her an envelope and gave her some instructions.
They told her to open it when she got home.
So, she waited. When she got home, she dropped to the floor -- seeing a check made out to her in the amount of $1,200.
"I nearly fell to the floor," Siegel said. "This shows that there are still nice people out in this world."
