More than twenty Florida residents charged in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot have had their concealed weapons permits suspended.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, a Democrat candidate for governor, announced the suspension of the licenses after Tuesday's House committee hearing from Capitol police officers about the attack.

In a statement, Fried said "The deeply disturbing events that occurred at our nation's Capitol on Jan. 6 were sedition, treason and domestic terrorism, and those individuals involved in the insurrection must be held accountable for attempting to subvert our democratic process."

She also said that as charges and sentences continue, more suspensions and revocations will be granted.
