Gasparilla Ridesharing Gets Complicated in Tampa

TAMPA -- Saturday (25th) is the day of the Gasparilla Pirate Fest in Tampa. Many people plan to drink, and also lan to use a ridesharing service to get home.

Lyft is the official rideshare partner of the Pirate Fest.

If you want to use Uber, things get a little complicated. Uber service is blacked out in areas close to the parade route from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

According to Uber, anyone who tries to use the app will get directions to move outside the parade perimeter for service.

In general terms, the perimeter includes downtown areas west of Florida Avenue, north of Cleveland Avenue or north of Swann Avenue in Hyde Park, or east of Harbour Island Boulevard and south of Knights Run Avenue on Harbour Island.

Uber's scooter fleet will also be disabled in the parade zone. Scooters being driven into the restricted area will brake to a halt.
