One thing to know about the new Miley Cyrus is she’s finally tapping in to her Nashville roots.
The renewed pop superstar and daughter of CMT’s own Billy Ray Cyrus performed a country-influenced version of her new single “Malibu” during the recent Billboard Music Awards.

The stripped-down performance featured string instruments, including a twangy steel guitar, and a very emotional Miley.
“It’s a brand new start/A dream come true/In Malibu,” the Music City native sung as she became choked up.

The Voice coach has revealed in recent interviews how her ups and downs with now fiancée Liam Hemsworth inspired the track.
