Emily Ann Roberts paid tribute to late country legend Toby Keith when she covered one of his biggest anthems on the Fourth of July.
Roberts, 27, teamed up with Elizabeth Nichols, 24, when she took the stage with “Red Solo Cup” during Nashville's Star-Spangled Bash in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Roberts shared a clip of the performance on Instagram on Tuesday (July 7), exclaiming in her caption, “I SANG RED SOLO CUP ON TV!!!!!” Nichols agreed in the comments, “we had a party.”
Roberts wrote in text that temporarily appeared over the clip, “I hope I did Toby proud.” Some of the commenters responded: “Not only did you make him proud, but you brought something more to it, that feminine energy, and kept it so fun. ❤️❤️❤️,” “oh you most definitely did!!!! the best cover i’ve possibly ever heard ❤️🤍💙,” “You did us all proud 😭🙌,” and more.
The country star, who finished runner-up when she competed on Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice in 2015, was one of many genre-spanning performers to take the stage during the Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash special.
