Ginsburg Replacement Could Be Florida Judge Now On Federal Appeals Court

President Trump could look to Florida as he names a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The president has promised to nominate a woman to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the High Court. Federal Appeals Court Judge Barbara Lagoa is said to be among those Trump considers.

If chosen, it could complete a meteoric rise in the legal profession for the 52-year-old Cuban-American from South Florida. Trump appointed Lagoa to the federal bench just last year only a few months after Governor DeSantis named her to the Florida Supreme Court.

The other woman seen as a likely finalist with Lagoa is Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Indiana.

Justice Ginsburg died on Friday at the age of 87.
