Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd does NOT play around! He issued a warning to criminals that anyone with a warrant out for their arrest who attempts to check into a shelter during Hurricane Irma will be promptly escorted to jail!

In fairness, I'm sure the Polk County Pokey is a safe place to ride out a storm, so I'm sure it'll all work out.

Judd says that this warning was issued in efforts to keep families safe from violent criminals or sexual offenders. When checking IDs, if an officer sees that someone has a warrant, that person will be taken into custody, according to a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department.

Some people are upset about this...I'm ok with it. If I had to take my family to a shelter and found out there was a sexual predator next to my kids, I'd be livid. Shelters are supposed to be a SAFE space, not a refuge for people on the run from the law.

Do your thing, Sheriff Judd!
