Nanny Position Available...But There's a Catch

A Scottish couple is offering a whopping $84,000 (£50,000) for a live-in nanny to come care for their two kids, ages five and seven, but there is one scary catch... their house is haunted.

In a listing on a childcare site, the pair explained how the nanny would get to stay in their "lovely, spacious, historic property with spectacular views." They'd get their own bedroom, bathroom and even a private kitchen.

Duties include getting the children ready for school, helping after school and occasionally putting them down at bedtime, but then it gets to the fine print.

The listing explains, "We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was 'haunted' when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. 5 nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven't personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we've been out of the house, but we're happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it's important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person."

I'll be honest: I don't believe in ghosts. I think when people claim to have had a supernatural encounter, if you really look at the situation, there's ALWAYS an explanation for the weird things they saw/heard. Maybe I'd change my mind if I ever saw something freaky with my own eyes, but every time I've ever heard or seen something strange, I've always been able to pinpoint the source of said strangeness.

So, yes, if I were in Scotland looking for a job in childcare, I'd take their $80,000 in a hot second and never look back.

What say you?
