Dierks Bentley Nominated to Nashville Airport Authority's Board of Directors

The man whose biggest hit is called “Drunk On a Plane” is about to become a leader in Nashville aviation.

The Tennessean reports Dierks Bentley has been nominated by mayor Megan Barry to join the 10-person Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s board of directors.

Barry notes the country star, pilot and avid plane enthusiast “a unique perspective to the board of the MNAA.”

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve on the Airport Authority board,” Dierks said in a statement. “I love Nashville and I love aviation. There are many big changes happening in our city right now as it continues to grow so rapidly.”

He adds he’s “very excited to get a chance to be involved in facilitating and managing that growth as it pertains to our airports and aviation services.”

Dierks will not receive any financial compensation for accepting the volunteer position that is expected to be approved by the Metro Council next month.
