Wednesday is National Pet Day.

The day was founded by animal welfare advocate Collen Paige to create public awareness of the many animals awaiting a forever home in shelters across the nation.

They say about 16,000 pets die in U.S. shelters every single day.

Consider adopting from a shelter if you want to get a new pet.

Please support spay/neuter programs at your local shelters and rescue centers.

If a million Americans would donate $1 a month, it would raise $12 million for shelters across the country.
