Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson have officially been announced as the new judges for season 12 of American Idol.

The new four-person panel will start their new positions today (9/16), as auditions begin in New York City. Other audition cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, San Antonio, Baton Rouge and Oklahoma City.

Keith feels like “it's really an honor to have been invited to be a part of the American Idol family.” He added, “I’m looking forward to working with everyone and to seeing the same passion that I have for music in all of the participants.”

 The new season of American Idol will air on FOX in January.

According to, Minaj is expected to make between $10-$12 million, while Urban will get between $3 and $5 mil.
