In the current "Rolling Stone", Eric unloads on singing competition shows.

He actually calls out BLAKE SHELTON and CEE LO GREEN for being judges on the shows.

Here's what Eric said, quote, "It's become 'American Idol' gone mad.  Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green turn around in a red chair, you got a deal?  That's crazy.   I don't know what would make an artist do that.  You're not an artist.  If I was concerned about my legacy, there's no way I would ever sit there and be a reality-show judge.

Once your career becomes about something other than music, then that's what it is.  I'll never make that mistake.  I don't care if I starve."

MIRANDA LAMBERT once brought Eric along as her opening that was totally un-cool to do that to her.  Yeah, she got her start on a reality show, and then helped jumpstart his career.

She Tweeted, quote, "Thanks Eric Church for saying I'm not a real artist.  Or Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban.  You're welcome for the tour in 2010."

Miranda was a finalist on the first season of "Nashville Star".  Carrie and Kelly were winners on "American Idol" . . . and Keith is currently a judge on the Australian edition of "The Voice".

What did BLAKE say?  He simply Tweeted, quote, "I wish I misunderstood this."

Eric released a lengthy statement to Yahoo!, which reads in part, “I have a lot of respect for what artists like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and my friend Miranda Lambert have gone on to accomplish...This piece was never intended to tear down any individual and I apologize to anybody I offended in trying to shed light on this issue.”
