Los Angeles just became the largest city in the U.S. to launch the “Meatless Mondays” campaign, which encourages people to go vegetarian one day a week.

It aims to cut down on general meat consumption for both health and environmental reasons.  Studies have shown that eating a primarily plant-based diet can reduce risk of disease and obesity.

And eating fewer animal-based food products also reduces our impact on the earth, a.k.a. our carbon footprint.
