PINELLAS (970 WFLA) - Due to the storm Friday morning, Pinellas County's 911 has technical issues. It is functoning but on a back-up system.
If citizens call 9-1-1 and cannot get through, they should call (727) 588-4761.
Residents should only call 911 in an emergency.
St. Petersburg Police Communications Center is serving as back-up during 911 outage.
The County's Consolidated Public Safety Center encountered a total service disruption on the inbound calling lines for all county-wide 9-1-1.
In conjunction with Pinellas County Public Safety, the St. Petersburg Police Department's Emergency Communication Center began receiving and processing all emergency medical, fire and law enforcement calls for the County. St. Pete Police personnel are receiving calls, and routing/forwarding calls to the appropriate locations for proper response to citizen's needs.
Meantime, County staff are relocating the St. Petersburg Emergency Communication Center to receive and process medical, fire and law enforcement calls for the County.
St. Petersburg's Emergency Communications Center and the County's Consolidated Public Safety Center are designed to provide redundant back up capabilities for continuity of operations in the event of disasters or major system failures, such as was encountered today.
