ST. PETERSBRUG, Fla. (970 WFLA) – St. Pete Police say a mother is facing charges after they say she drank in a bar and hit two parked cars - all with her son in the car.
Police say they were called to the Tryst Lounge on the 200 block of Beach Drive NE at about 3:00 a.m. Monday morning for a disturbance.
When police arrived, they say officers found a crowd of people standing outside pointing to a woman, later identified as 36-year-old Krastina Yankova Gesheva, who was in a 2010 silver Mercedes in front of the lounge. Police say witnesses told the officers that she had struck two parked cars as she was backing out and was trying to leave the area.
When they came over to the car, police say they found Gesheva's 8-year-old son inside. Neither were injured, police say, and as they asked Gesheva to get out of the car they say she showed clear indications of being under the influence.
Police say witnesses told them Gesheva had been seen in the lounge drinking for four hours and that her son had been seen sitting in her car alone during that time. They said periodically the son would leave the car and come into the bar to look for his mother, police said.
Gesheva was taken into custody and charged with DUI and child neglect, police said. Her blood alcohol content was later determined to be 0.177%, police said. Officers arrange for a guardian to take custody of the child.
