TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – A man was taken to Tampa General Hospital late Thursday night as a trauma alert with life-threatening injuries after a crash on I-4.

Tampa Firefighters said it happened just before 9 pm in the eastbound lane of the interstate at 22nd Street.

Firefighters said a car with two people inside was stopped on the left shoulder with a flat tire when another driver slammed into the back of the disabled vehicle. On impact, firefighters said a fire started and one of the people of the disabled vehicle suffered serious injuries while the other person walked away with no injuries.
