HILLSBOROUGH, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Hillsborough County health officials said a health advisory has been issued for the following beaches: Ben T. Davis, Cypress Point, Davis Island, and Picnic Island based on the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA.
Officials said this should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public. Samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria, officials said, and the beach will be re-sampled, Monday, April 21, 2014.
When re-sampling indicates that the water is within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.
